I just moved into a house that have 2 furnaces and 2 thermostats. The furnaces are identical and both are located contained by the attic. One thermostat is on the main rank and the other is on the 2nd floor. If I adjust one thermostat does that effect the other at all? How can I use the 2 furnaces to my dominance to keep costs low? The first bill be outrageous and I learned my lesson that 2 furnaces equals double the gas bill.
Answers: Since you are renting, you are stuck using what you own. Two furnaces for 2200 sq. ft. is not necessary. Whoever installed the system should own created two zones beside the use a VAV box. This would allow you to heat or cool respectively separate zone to different temperatures. I would try to use the upstairs thermostat and furnace as seldom as possible surrounded by the winter since the heat from the downstairs will with ease rise to the upstairs and if there is a central cooling installed, do the opposite contained by the summer since cool air falls. I would abstain from having both systems running at duplicate time. The system was not installed properly, but you are pretty much stuck using it as sagely as you can unless you can talk your proprietor into upgrading it to a single high usefulness system with two zone using a VAV box and two thermostats.
how big is your house. i have lone ever seen 2 furnaces contained by houses that are like 4,000 sq ft or more. you should probably hold a HVAC company come out and give you an estimate for getting a modern high eficiency furnace and adjust your duct work to give you one furnace. I would run the lower furnace more. The upper furnace will own to work harder to move hot air down because hot nouns naturally desires to rise. So i would set the upper one about 4-8 degree cooler then the lower one and hold on to some doors open.
