water kiln busted and was discharging hose down in the crawl space underneath my home. (plenty of water damage) i didn't know until be started coming in the home. call the plumbing company. after calling someone to suck the water from below the house the plumbing company assured me that there weren't any broken pipes and that the hose heater have to be replaced. i was charged $1,595 for a unusual water furnace. plus $265 for seismic stabilizer plus $393 for new wet flex lines plus $50 for a water control device plus $255 to incorporate a drain to outside line coming from valve. my waterheater is located outside of my home. total charge for water boiler was $2,558.00 for the charge. he installed a 40 gallon SmartShield sensor system by General Electric Heater. How bad be I over charged. It was an emergency situation. thank you
Answers: I'm seeing river heaters online at Home Depot for around $275 up (50 gallon electric). The highest price I'm seeing on their site is just about $600. I'd suggest finding someone else with whom to do business within the future; I'd also suggest checking on the usury law in your nouns.
I think you get screwed. The best water heatrer shouldn't cost more than $400-500. The seismic stabilizer and flex lines organize me to believe you're in California or some other earthquake-prone nouns. Call around to other plumbers and get an estimate to see what others charge. You might be capable of go after the guy if there's a huge difference.
