How can you describe what benign of Metal my feathery switch plates are? I have some REALLY matured light switch cover plates and outlet plates....
I have some REALLY matured light switch cover plates and outlet plates. They are silver within look, and magnets stick to them. Some of them are super shiny, which makes me cogitate Stainless steel, some are dulled in color which make me think Chome plated. How do I know? Do I own to take this to a salesperson?
Thanks for all polite answers.
Answers: They are probably freshly chrome plated steel, it's hard to seize stainless to polish to a really shiny finish. The ones that are dull in color are possibly in recent times regular, unplated steel. These are usually used in the commercial marketplace when the conduit (the tubes the wires run in) are exposed. They still sell the chrome plated ones at the home center.
if magnets are sticking to them later they steel odds are chrome plated-take them to antique hawker to find out more
