Im renting a house off my stepdad beside my fioncee but we have get numerous problems at the moment. We have unpromising damp patch or condensation in most of the rooms, we enjoy no hot water downstairs and we hold fencing that needs to be repaired within our back garden. We enjoy asked him to fix it lots of times but he keeps putting it bad and off. Obviously we dont enjoy a contract and cant really upset him!! He is just so un organised and doesnt give the impression of being to bother
Answers: 1) Look into getting a dehumidifier and run it 24/7. Won't take contemplation of the cause, but will comfort w/ the moisture problem. Take a look at the fact that where on earth there's this much moisture there is, more than promising, TONS of toxic molds, which can destroy your strength and well-being, behind the walls as all right, and then ask yourself exactly how much of a "correct deal" this arrangement actually is.
2) Re: the hot river situation, I'd write stepdad a registered letter detailing the facts that this, and adjectives the other situations need to be remedied, and stating by when you obligation this done. If he goes sooner or later past the date you've stipulated, I'd call a plumber, engross his or her services, and deduct the costs from the rent. Problem solved.
3) I'd repair/replace the fencing myself first, and also then reduce by the costs from the rent.
There are costs involved in dragging one's **** and not doing needed and prerequisite repairs and maintenence. I'd keep it adjectives very low push button, but at the same time, insist, especially in connection with the mold/damp issue. Cryptosporidium can kill you and your pets. It can completely weaken one's health. In this country (the US), you can't even put up for sale your house if it has mold contained by it. It is unsellable, and will fail inspection automatically, and can be condemned. I hold friends who live in the woods who have to completely gut their house, cut the surrounding trees down and completely renovate b/c of mold issues. Some things in go you can let slide a bit, and some things you of late can't. This would be one of them.
Find a better place. Even though it is family, it may be best for both party.
