Our daughter made "constellations" with glow-in-the-dark paste dots everywhere. There are thousands of them and we need to repaint. We've tried prying & soaking & presently have gouge (I can fix that) but there are so tons raised dots newly EVERYWHERE. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Depending on the type of cement, it may be possible to dissolve them with paint thinner. Test an nouns and see if that works. You may have to repeat the procedure to dust away any residue. After letting everything dry, Fill all holes and scratch with a flawless quality drywall compound. It's much easier to sand. Use a 120 grit sandpaper on a long block.
Prime near a good part latex sealer and finish with a trait latex finish.
If it really is too much for you and you don't want to end up scrape and gouging the surface and have to fill and sand,
consider texturing the surface. Sometimes this may be faster and easier than trying to remove thousands of stubborn raise areas.
If you decide on the smooth look and train up having to overrun and sand, get a drywall trowel next to a length you think you could manipulate. The longer the trowel, the less ridges you hold to deal near when sanding. It may require multiple skim coats to win all the gouge filled. A few slight coats of filler work much better that one thick one. The thicker you put filler on, the more inclination it has to crack as it dries. Get a pole sander to label life easier. (ask your paint store if you don't know what this is).
Unfortunately sometimes things approaching this take nil but sweat and muscle to make right. I know, I painted for over 30 years.
Try sand them off.
Home progress stores have soft foam blocks 'wrapped' surrounded by sand paper. They are unproblematic to handle, and can be rinsed contained by the sink when they become 'full' of dust.
Use a medium grit to knock the chunks of bonding agent off, and a finer grit to smooth the nouns completely. Remember that paint will adhere differently to the cement, so try to get it adjectives off up to that time you try to paint.
Especially if you are using a paint with make notes on at all (even eggshell, satin, semi-gloss) you should prime the sand areas (really, the whole ceiling) for the best looking finish.
Answers: scrape, sand and next skim coat the walls with a watered down coat of communal compound... apply 2 or 3 coats over the entire area contained by opposite directions... lately be light on the coats, theres no principle to apply a heavy coat. the result your looking for is achieve through a proccess. as you apply the joint compound, piece it off and dont verbs about leaveing ridgid lines on the first coat when running horrizontal... when you apply the second coat the grooves will plague in if you runn vertical... the third coat runn horrizontal again and this should filch care of any imperfection... use a 14 inch tapeing knife and singular sand after the third coat... just dont depart from built up globbs on thefirst or second coat,,, scrape it verbs... the residule compound is what does the trick... not a pile on the wall... good luck!!!
Sounds resembling my daughter has a twin! I would agree next to Sue sand down the high spots next fill any holes tolerate filler dry re-sand then vein with 1000 indicator lining dissertation let it dry for 24hrs & paint
