How can I remove a lantern fixture from a mirror? I have a flimsy fixture that is glue to a mirror....
I have a flimsy fixture that is glue to a mirror. I'm not sure what kind of glue was used but, the fixture isn't budging. I be wondering if there are some broad adhesive removers that would oblige loosen things up? Because mirrors are expensive, I would like to save it for now (hole and all) and put up a trial fixture. Can anyone help me?
Answers: Any sort of adhesive regardless whether it is asphalt, tile adhesive, super epoxy resin, etc will come off once you hold applied excessive heat. Take a blower dryer on glorious all around the fixture and bake the entire outer area until you see some slack on the paste. I would turn off the power to the fixture to generate sure you do not overheat the electrical wires or connections. Also make sure that the fixture is certainly glued and not hung tight on a screw(s). Push up thorny on the fixture to see if you can release the fixture.
There is a cleaning solvent called Goof Off. You can take it at any hardware store or home center in the sculpture isle. It is a good solvent that will remove dried paint, glue, tar, etc. This would be my first try. I would procure a small paint brush and use it to apply the Goof Off around the light fixture and see if it softens the glue.
