How can I bear a broken reading light bulb out of a socket besides using a potato?

Two bulbs blew out of my ceiling fan, cause the fuse to be tripped off. As I be taking the light bulbs out, one of the bulbs themselves come out, but the fillament, that which caused the bulb to work, get left down. How do I fix this? The other bulb won't work without this bulb self in. I don't hold a potato.

Answers:    Rob L. hit on the head. BUT for your sake, please wear eye protection because of the cup that may be left contained by there. Another route is use a pair of plunger nose pliers and grasp between whats left of the bulb groundwork and the socket.
