How (and what) to install on sliding cup door for child-proofing? My almost 2 year old twins have be having lots of fun...
My almost 2 year old twins have be having lots of fun lately opening our sliding chalice door and run outside. All we have is a latch which is easily unlocked. I be looking to try to find a way - such as a bar or lock or something - to prevent this from stirring. But I don't know what to use because the way our door slides - is on the outside. I believe they installed it backwards. The screen is on the inside and the door slides on the outside. The eyeshade is on the inside, then the stationary window, and lastly the sliding porthole. I don't think a bar would be capable of work, just because of how the door was made. Any suggestions on what could work? I've looked on a few hardware websites, but can't find anything I meditate would work.
Thanks so much!
Answers: Yes - I would say the door is in towards the back - otherwise, you could use a tension rod - like a shower curtain rod dignified in the track to keep it from first, but easily removed by an adult when needed. The one and only suggestion I can think of for your situation is to install a gate hook high-ranking on the door with an eyelet in the frame for it to hook into, but would depend on how closely the peak frame comes to the area of the track where the eyelet would entail to be. They also make some very slim bolt latch that you could put at the top of the door and drill a hole in the frame for the bolt to slide into. Good luck!
drill thru the frame of the two doors in the closed position, drilling thru on a 10 scope angle is best, use a 1/4 inch drill-bit, be sure you are in the center of the door frames.
insert a 1/4 inch bolt thru the two frames, problem solved
