House thermostat? I have one of those elder thermostats in my house, its get...

I have one of those elder thermostats in my house, its get two switches one for the Fan which switches from auto to on and then another one that go from heat to bad to cool and then the heat gague which i can move up and down. I've switched it to heat and its basically not working, am I doing something wrong or do you ruminate it's broken... its an apartment by the way and I've call maintenece but they take forever to do anything and I'd fairly not be sitting in the cold... appreciation!

Answers:    Since you live in an apartment, it is possible that the manager hasn't turned as yet. You should check beside some of your neighbors to see if they have boil. If they do, then fashion sure that your temperature control is set to maximum and double check that switch is contained by the 'heat' position. If you have electric heat, check the circuit breakers. I have one of those also. Is it possible that within is an on/off switch on the furnace? Also these are very sensitive, is here any debree on the senser when you pull the front sour...if so that will keep if from reading the temp. properly. Another possiblity is that a alien thermostat is needed. These also are less streamlined if the furnace is old also, so it take longer for them to kick on.
