hi, i bought this older 1940's home end spring and just have a brand new hot dampen heater put contained by it. Every time i try to fill the hip bath tub full of hot water it doesnt even enjoy enough to pack the small regular tub before it get cold. I just get a new shower principal for christmas and put it on (it has harder marine preasure on it) and i cant even take a 5 minute shower in need all the hot hose down going. I have a HotPoint 40 gal cistern which i though is plenty big. What can i do to help or solve this problem. THank you..
Your water furnace may have be improperly installed or it may be unsound....in any case contact the installer and it should be covered by your warranty or he should gross it right with you.

Gas or Electric?

If it's electric it might be the heat element. Many hose down heaters have a 1 year warranty, name Roto Rooter...it might be a free service & parts.
Answers:    Forty gallons should be big ample. Often, such problems result from buildup of calcium salts contained by the bottom of the heater (if it is gas fired), and these inevitability to be cleaned out from time to time. But your heater is hot, and it would take really crappy marine to build up enough lime to be a problem. Suggestion: try turning up the thermostat on the boiler; you will need smaller quantity water if it is hotter.
