Hot/cold piping attached? I live in a 60 yo house that have had an enclosure....

I live in a 60 yo house that have had an enclosure. there are two hot and two cold pipes serving the home, from the nouns of the water space heater. at one point, the hot and cold are joined by a small length of pipe. why are they mixing? can I cut this blend and cap bad the ends?
How do i fix my wash mechanism?
Answers:    Maybe this is a redundancy to make sure that in attendance is water flowing, or possibly a poor attempt to keep the pipes from freezing.

I can suppose of reasons *not* to do this. You lose use w/ your hot water, beside your cold water, you lose river pressure when your clothes or dish washer kicks contained by and it effects the other water file. If you have to shut the marine off, this pipe joining would bypass any valve that the separation would normally avoid.

I don't know why that's here, I'd cut and cap them if it be in my house.

Hard to read aloud, but at the water radiator, they in a sense do tie together as the cold go in the oven and the hot then go out. Other than that, if all is working correctly, next I wouldn't do anything. Many times with several pipes, adjectives is not as it seems.
