I have a 10 year ancient house. In the winter, I have a problem beside the water heat up in the bathroom. The downstairs is fine, but my upstairs shower and sink give somebody a lift forever to heat up... and afterwards when the shower does heat up, the hose down turns cold very efficiently. I was wondering if any one have an idea of what the problem could be?
Answers:    I own a few suggestions for you. First, check to see if you hot water pipes are insulated - I bet they aren't. In the underground store, and wherever else possible, wrap the hot sea pipes with insulating foam. Local hardware and home upturn stores have these, as ably as heating and plumbing supply warehouse.
Next, have someone handy check the Hi and Lo settings on the furnace / boiler. You can other turn these up to get hotter marine (on the high control switch), and you could also tell the furnace to turn backbone on (with the Lo limit switch). This help me when I had a similar problem (the hot hose down ran out too vigorous in the shower). By adjust these Hi and Low limits up a bit, the furnace / boiler will not just make hotter sea, but will turn back on at a complex temperature than earlier. So instead of the water dropping to 120 degree, it will only tolerate it drop to 140 degrees (just an example) up to that time turning back on.
I own a guess. You say the house is individual 10 years old so that tell me you have a single button shower valve. Try turning the stopcock on just adequate so that only the cold hose would come out. If it becomes hot(not warm), they hooked up the cold and hot backwards. If this is true, lone cold would come out by turning it all the opening
As far as the hot water reaching the upstairs, not much you can do. You can install a recirculation pump but that would require a total new hose line installed adjectives the way up to the bathroom group. They do be paid a fitting gizmo( ican't think of the given name of it) that will cross the hot and cold under your lavatory sink. Supposedly it will allow the hot to go by through to the cold. When you use the fixtures , the cold comes back but you hold hot as well.
