Yesterday my a/c at home started blowing out warm air--so I thought it was freon, but next I went outside to check my unit's fan it the hanger-on was not moving at all and it be making a hissing noise. Anyone have any design on what this could be and the cost?
It would be way cheaper to buy a new one, in attendance not that much now, you can buy a new one at Meijer for single $100-$200 Sounds like the motor bearings seized. You're better past its sell-by date buying a brand new a/c rather than repairing your broken one.
Look close to your condensing motor burned out or capacitor is bad,
hissing noise be due to high pressure within condenser, compressor is running but supporter doesn't causing heat and pressure, turn past its sell-by date outside unit or whole system.
Prices band, if you can take the heat bring at least three quotes.
Condensing motor is about $150 but I'm sure that they will charge you more, capacitor more or less $30.
Answers:    Do not run the unit like that.
There is any a problem with the fan motor or it's capacitor or electrics.
Fan motor might cost between $100-$200.
Certainly cheaper than buying a new unit.
If it's a capacitor they are cheap -$10-$15.00
I agree beside gizmo
