Home ac outside component will not turn on and past its sell-by date. It newly hang on to running?

Thermostat is likely broken, so it can't tell the heat currectly. Either get it fixed or turn it on and off manually. You might want to try tripping the fuse for it, within the breaker box.

If that doesn't work, you should call a repair person.
Is it cooling? Is in attendance air flow from inside vents? If the thermostat is set lower than the inside nouns temp, it will continue to run. Try setting at a higher temp. If it still runs you may have need of to cut it off at the disconnect near the outside element of at the breaker panel. If the lines from the unit are frosted or covered with rime call a service man. Is the inside unit (air handler) turning on and past its sell-by date? If so then you have a problem.

If it is hot out adjectives day over 15 deg. than inside it is expected and ok. Your unit is designed to run 24-7. It is still best to go and get a yearly check to make sure it is running at height efficiency. My first summer in my first home saw temps over 100 deg surrounded by Florida and I asked the same thing, but compensated 60 bucs for a tech to tell me the same piece. I found getting cheap air filters during the summer to facilitate air flow better, then switching final to high dollar carbon odor reducing filters during smaller number demanding times.
Answers:    if the inside unit turns on and off resembling it is suppose to then the contactor on the outside unit is discouraging and needs replaced.you do not want to allow the outside unit to run lacking the inside unit running as this will cause the a coil surrounded by the inside unit to freeze up.until you can get a service man nearby i would recommend you put the fan seting on the thermostat to the on position and if your home gets to cold turn the power sour on the outside unit...if you do this at least you can hang on to your home cool until you get the oudoor unit fixed.
May be the contactor stuck or contacts weld together.
Do not run it like that. It needs to be repaired.
