I am installing a new cooktop. The power source have a black wire, a white telecommunication, and a bare telecommunication. The stove top has a black cable, a red wire, and a green cable.
How do I attach these wires?
Also, on the old cooktop, the wires be attached inside a junction box that be attached to the cooktop. I am guessing i need to buy a T-junction box and attach wires inside i?
Answers: Black, red and green are correct for 230 volts.
More than likely your elderly cook top is the same voltage.
Manufacturers made outstandingly few 110 volt type cooktops.
Most builders did not install them because they consume too much energy, and they filch longer to cook with.
You should know how to tell by the type of breaker you enjoy.
If it is a double switch with a solid shaft for both switches than it is a 230 volt breaker. Wire black to black, red to white, and bare to green. Try to reuse the feeble J-box if you can, or go to the hardware store and procure one. Electrical connections need to be roofed.
if you can use the old j - box use it. black to black, white to red, green to unclothed wire. what is the voltage, 120, 220 ? are cooktops same volts?
