HELP! surrounded by home radiator warmness issues? I moved into an apartment that had elder radiators ( I think...

I moved into an apartment that had elder radiators ( I think they are steam radiators) I'm not exactly sure how to use.. I turn on the steam and none of them heat up! Am I supposed to adjust the knob or settings first? Or bleed the system? If so any ideas or tips to relief know what the hell I'm doing would be great!

Answers:    If you hold radiators first thing you own to do is make sure the boiler is working properly and is pumping river through the system. If your boiler is not heating the dampen, or if your circulation pump is broke then you will not attain any heat from your radiators. if both of them see okay consequently the next item to do is make sure adjectives the valves are start to the radiators as to not restrict flow.

Since they are so old: When you turn the boiler on a few minutes after (5-10) do you start to hear bang in the pipes or clicking? If so next the boiler & the pumps are working & the radiators porobly need to be blead. Just to bring the air out of the system. You can draw from a key from a hardwear store. All the bangging comes from the steam trapps man old too.
