Actually... I'm not really locked in, I do own a back door, but it is thoughtful of inconvenient to have to pace around. I have a deadbolt i.e. keyed from both sides. Tried the switch on both sides with no luck within releasing the bolt. I've been reading onlne and it say if you can get to the inner workings you can release the bolt from the inside. Okay... How do you step about doing this. The inside doesn't own screws - they look similar to a couple of rivets. I tried removing the main housing but adjectives that does is spin. So I'm at a loss on what to try next. Please relief!
Answers: This deadbolt should come apart with phillips screw from the inside. After it's removed you can take a flat screw driver surrounded by the center of the opening and snag the departed bolts turning shaft. Turn to the left and the bolt will return to the flush position and the door will get underway. Go buy a new deadbolt, one near a thumb turn on the inside and keyed on the outside is preferred.
*** Edit *** Screws are on one side or the other. You may hold to pop a cover off to win to them but they are there. This is not really the best type to own in a home. If you needed to bring back out in hurry because of a fire, you would regret have this type... get a untried one like I explained above. They are cheap to buy at home change stores or Walmart.
