12 year old house. Replacing oven. No installation brochure. 2 pole 40 amp breaker. Removed old oven minus paying attention to electric wiring. GE JKP13GOT1BB. There is existing 2 wire (blk and white) near copper ground. Oven has 3 rope (blk, white, red) with ground. What do I do near the red wire? Somebody said newly cap it
Answers:    hope someone corrects me if i'm wrong but i'm pretty sure the latest ovens use the red and black for hot wires and the white for a neutral if i'm correct and i come up with i am you would cap rotten the white wire and hook up the black, red and ground
This is a code coppers that will continue to be a problem next to the older homes. Inspect your power panel, the black and white wires should move about to the circuit breaker. At the wall unit, put a piece of black or red cassette on the white insulation. Hook the black wires together, hook the red wire from the bright unit to the white rope in the wall, hook the ground wires and the remaining white line together. Since this is a 220/240 volt unit, the controls and the timer are the singular items that might use 110/120. If the wiring does not fit this description, it's time to ring up a qualified professional electrician. Your new element has the power on the red and black lead. The old element had the power on the black and white lead, the ground and the neutral will tie together contained by the power panel.
