Help beside fixing drawers? The bottom drawer of my clothes chest gets stuck partly way when...
The bottom drawer of my clothes chest gets stuck partly way when I try to unfold it. The drawers are on rollers. Does anyone how to fix it.
Answers: I have repaired a few of these near the following situation:
The under runners be metal. The retaining screw on the back of the drawer bottom have loosened or fallen out and be jamming in the runner gears.
How to fix: these can be difficult. Remove drawers above, below or to the side to see what kind of access you can grasp. Most of the time, you can pull out the drawer partly way, crawl underneath and remove the screw holding the runner to the front of the drawer bottom. Sometimes you basically have to bring back into obscure places or bust things.
Replace the screw near a longer and/or wider screw or move it to a different location where it can get hold of a good bite.
If the drawer float itself is munged up (another common occurrence), run to a hardware store and get a replacement. In US, I find Lowe's have a good screening of replacements and replacement parts. There is not much standardization, so you may have to join some little pieces of wood as shims to get the right vertical clearance.
spray a bit of grease on the runners, if you can then gain the drawer right out, the runner might need adjust.
