Answers:    I hold a heat pump next to a digital thermostat. When the flame is flashing the auxiliary heat it on.

The auxiliary bake comes on when the outside unit is defrost or if the heat pump can't preserve up with the warmth load because the outside heat is too low.

Both are perfectly typical occurrences. If the flame flashes adjectives the time and the outside temperature is surrounded by the 30 deg plus range after you should be concerned.

The axillary heat will also come on when the thermostat is raise several degrees at a time as we do respectively morning when get draw from up.
