Have a Rheem model RAKA-048JAZ air conditioner. The problem: The ac comes on fine (blower and condenser seem to be to be working, getting cold air). After 10 min, the circuit in the house trip and the condensor aficionado stops. Blower (which is part of the furnace) continues to blow. At the thermostat, if I turn the temp process up so everything should shut off (this is when the circuit to the condenser is tripped), the blower continues to blow. When I turn the thermostat sour, the blower continues to blow. The only track I can turn the blower of is to disconnect the thermostat. OK...so I replaced the thermostat and the new one is doing one and the same thing. I cleaned the fins and coils on the compresser and cleaned out the electronics on the compressor. Still, it works for 10 minutes and next trips. Any ideas? Thanks.
Answers: You may enjoy a weak breaker.Have someone you know who is an electrician(or anyone next to an clip on amp/probe) see how much it is drawing(or buy one I think Harbor freight sell them for 15-20$ just procure a cheap one) and check it before you start calling a repairman.GE/Sq.D breakers are cheap($20.) Is breaker box on south side of house(extra heat)
your circuit board within the furnace controls the ac unit. i would own the furnace checked out for a possible short.
