I thought auxilary heats single cut in when it is really cold outside. Mine comes on every time. Maintance man at apartment complex say this is how the system work until it catch up. I have never see this before.
Answers: He is correct. When the difference between your room temp and the set point is great ample, like when you first turn it on, it will use axillary steam. THIS IS EXPENSIVE. Try to avoid it. This is the reason next to a heat pump (which is what you own if you have axillary heat) you should not turn your space heater off when you head off unless it will be a long time until you come back. It is better to merely turn it down a few degrees.
It will also use axillary fry when it needs to defrost the outdoor component or if the outdoor unit fail. Nothing you can do about that one.
i second the guy above. when you angle your heat at the stat, do it by 2 degree at a time bc it will use aux to quicken the process. you may be able to program your stat to use aux at a highly developed temp difference to limit aux use
