my house has a 100 year antiquated heatig system i.e. 3 1/2 inch pipes leaving the boiler room!! However beside the cost of oil so soaring i can not afford t run it for more that a couple of hours a day which vehicle the hour is always freezing. Any suggestions on possile routes forward?

Answers:    Change your system (to an gusto efficient one, probably gas), or move into a house that you can afford to fry, I don't see the point in freezing contained by a big house if you can be snug as a bug in a smaller house, ever hear the term fur coat and no knickers? Sorry, but its reality, you cut your cloth according to your means.
