Heater's pilot lighting go out. How do I relight it? I'm not paying $200 for the plumber to come and do it.

The answers are in attendance but I will try to simplify.

Find your temp control on your heater and turn the knob to "pilot".

When you press the knob (while contained by that position) it turns on the gas to the pilot. With long matches feathery the pilot while holding this knob.

Hold the knob for several seconds (even though the pilot seem lit) or until you hear a "click". That means the thermocouple will allow the gas contained by without you holding down the knob.

Release the knob and if the pilot stays on, turn the knob posterior on and you will have bake. If not, repeat the lighting.

THERE SHOULD BE A SMALL DOOR TYPE IN BOTTOM FRONT OF HEATER .THEN YOU HAVE OPENED IT ,THERE WILL BE RESET BUTTON USUALLY RED,
PUSH IN ON BUTTON. YOU WILL NEED LONG STRATER
MATCHES(THE ONES USED TO START FIREPLACE)
HAE LIT MATCH A BASE OF BURNER. IT SHOULD LIGHT
BUT STILL HOLD IN BUTTON FOR ANOTHER 10-15 SECONDS
Answers:    Try this:
Set the gas-control knob to the Off position and turn the thermostat to its lowest setting (typically clockwise in both cases). Wait 5 minutes for any gas to clear. If after 5 minutes you smell gas, do not proceed. Call the utility company for instantaneous service.
Open or remove the outer and inner access covers for the burning chamber using a wrench or pliers. Use a flashlight to locate the end of the pilot-light tube that extends from the gas-control stopcock into the burning chamber. Adjust your position so you can comfortably reach this point beside a wooden match and see what you are doing.
Turn the control knob to the pilot position and on the double hold a match in close proximity the end of the pilot-light tube. Depress and hold the reset button on the gas-control tap Remove the match as soon as the pilot lights, but hang on to the button depressed for about a minute.
If the pilot does not remain lighted, repeat adjectives these steps. Otherwise, turn the gas **** on the control valve to the On position, set the thermostat to the desired warmth and replace the access panels.
