I am redecorating my bathroom and want to suspend a fairly brawny mirror (25 lbs) behind the sink using Velcro. Does anyone enjoy experience with this. I infer the Velcro will hold the mirror easily but my wife think it will fall down and hurt someone. I would use two strips 1 1/2" cavernous and about 28" long respectively.

Thanks,
Dan
Answers:    Dan,

Velcro is not all that strong. I hold used it to hang pictures near foam cores, but anything with any immensity will fall.

For a cloying mirror, I would use two 25 lbs-rated picture hangers, preferably next to one in a stud. With two hanger, you have more flexibility contained by positioning and leveling your mirror. You also have redundancy, should one hanger agree to go; that¡¯s a sanctuary feature to protect you and your family unit from broken glass.

Make sure that the rope is securely mounted into the mirror frame. My neighbour¡¯s picture fell to the floor in the future because he did not fastened the wire safe and sound.
It will fall. I've tried flaccid lighter things like bulletin boards near heavy duty velcro and it would stay for a while, afterwards, when the temperature get warmer, it would dive. You're better off using mastic sticky stuff that is river resistant.
