I am looking at finishing my hardwood floors. I need to do more than restrained sanding. I already see naked wood and want to completely sand before I stain and varnish. I want a professional-looking career. The web site make it look easy. I want to go and get some feedback from someone that actually used this. Can I do three 12x12 rooms within one day, if they are uniform? I'm just looking at sand them now and staining them surrounded by a day or two. But the sander is rented by the sunshine. So I want to get adjectives the sanding out of the mode. Thanks in credit.
Answers: I actually used the (Varathane) system on a 16 x 14 ft room yesterday and am currently applying the finishing couple of finish coats today. The sytem is surprisingly quite well brought-up. I only needed 3 sets of 36 grit to seize down to bare wood (this I followed next to 50 and 80 grits respectively). However the low spots in the floor (those that the Varathane sander can't acquire to, depending on how level your floor is) can be a affliction in the a**, and required me to use a palm sander contained by these areas as well as the edges of the room. I hold 65 year old floors that be likewise down to uncovered wood in unshakable areas and in supplement had pet stains and scratch from previous owners. I was competent to get rid of the majority of these issues. I rented the sander at Lowes at twelve noon and returned it at 9:30 pm the same time ($200 deposit and $35 per day rental... and thats for the light of day only .not 24 hours.option I knew that previously on as I would have rented it at close to 7am). I did snd for most of the day on this one room so I suppose you probably will need 2 days of the rental. The system is foolproof. Unlike the drum sanders that will guzzle through the floor if they aren't moved constantly, the varathane ezv sander can actually be vanished in impossible to tell apart spot for some time without adverse sequela. I hold never refinished a floor before and I believe I did a massively good available job for very little money. 3 rooms will definitley give somebody a lift some time (which depends on the current state of the floors), and the sanding is the rate limiting step. I used a gallon of dampen based poly (lowes $46), respectively coat applied after 3 hours with a sand before the 4th coat (which I will do tomorrow), using a synthetic brush applicator and a well brought-up synthetic brush for the edges and smoothing out thick spots. Seriously I would be in motion for it. You'll likely store a lot of money, the alternative paying a pro big bucks to do like thing. If you enjoy any other specific questions consent to me know. If you follow the instruction's . It should take no more afterwards hour. you'll also need to rent the orbit sander to do the edges. consequently apply two to three coats of polyurethane. good luck
