Hardwood floor maintanence, cleaning, repair...etc? Please lend a hand? I just bought a house an it is actual hardwood floor throughout....

I just bought a house an it is actual hardwood floor throughout. I have done plentifully of searching and I am still confused. I believe it is a finished polyeurthran hardwood floor made by Bruce (i found some disappeared overs in the box still). When I mop using Clorox readymop, it doesnt bring away the footprints and it looks dull. I have also tried Murphys Oil soap and it is like. What does refinish mean? There are some cracks too so how do I repair that? How habitually should I mop? Is a steam mop a good model? Please help
Answers:    Are these prefinished floors? That Murphy's wax crap is no appropriate for wood floors. If the pieces in the box you found enjoy finish on them then the floors are factory finished. In that casing I would contact the manufacturer to see what they recommend to restore the shine.

If the wood contained by the box is unfinished you probably own a polyurethane finish of some sort. Some guys use a waterborne product that is catalyzed and others use the grease modified product.

I would get a hardwood prudence kit at any flooring store that comes near a dust mop and the cleaner. That may restore the shine. If not you may need to wipe down the entire floor next to a mild solvent to remove the Murphy oil trash.

If none of this works you may want to apply a thin covering of gloss polyurethane to the surface to put together it shine again. If you cannot stay out of the house for a few days I would use a water base product. Make sure the product you use can be applied over an oil or river based finish since it is nearly impossible to know what the existing finish is.
I have wood floors, and they should be easy to precision for. You probably have done reduce to rubble to them by using a bleach product on them. I just used to vacuum them, and after damp mop them. That money no water lay on the wood. Water damages wood. You might need someone to come within and have a look at them. To refinish them, you sand sour the layer of finish, and put a alien finish on the wood. The revarnishing is labour intensive, you varnish, dry, insubstantially sand, wipe up all the dust, varnish, permit dry etc, until you get a really smooth coat to be precise wonderful. (usually about 3-4 coats, but may oscillate.) Repairs should be quite confident with legitimate wood. Again, check with a local that have experience. Never steam mop.
