Hanging a ceiling fixture, requirement help out.? I am replacing a ceiling fixture and the wiring from the ceiling...

I am replacing a ceiling fixture and the wiring from the ceiling are both copper next to solid white covering. I do not know which one is positive and which is negative. Is in attendance a why to figure this out?

Also what does 75 c min tight-fisted as far as conductors? (warning listed on the box)
Answers:    from the route you describe this, these two wires are from the switch loop. also, since you have a red line in the box, you must hold a two way switch arrangement. (light can be controlled by two different switches) if that be the way the fixture be connected before, it should be ok to reconnect impossible to tell apart way.
How frequent wires are there surrounded by the box in the ceiling? How are they connected? Are you sure one of the wires isn't painted...IE from when the ceiling be painted
