I've got a 24" (standard) countertop and a 18" double sink. The granite installer say I should exchange my lovely 4 hole faucet fixture (which has separate lever for hot and cold and veggie sprayer) for a single handle one.
He say the extra 3 holes could compromise the strength of the slab and it could begin to crack over time and use--is he right?
Answers: You bet he's right! Double sink, fully loaded next to dishes and water pulling down from the bottom of the granite. Even if the sink over lap the top of the granite, why would you want to risk breakage.
Granite is a rock and rocks break/cleave.
He's right, I wouldn't do it.
