Model GPH13H, it's a horizontal heat pump system, outdoors. It comes on with the thermostat, but no nouns blows out of the vents in the house. By "comes on," I tight the big fan comes on (actually kinda sounds like a Cessna) and when I look contained by the fan cavity, the pipes are iced, so I know SOMETHING is cooling. I've shut it off completely within the hopes that the problem is that the unit is iced solid inside (I'm not opening anything to check, since I enjoy no clue what I'm looking at.) It can't be the filter, because I hosed it off a week ago, and when I checked it just immediately, it's still clear and wide open. Its individual 23 months old. What do I look for here?
Should still be under warranty, This requires a service call from an AC man. Call anyone you can seize hold of tonight, cause you will have to be surrounded by a que for service this time of year. The fan in the attic is not running, and it may be a limiter switch or something more serious. You enjoy two fans involved, one on the compressor unit outside, and one contained by the attic in the air handler which moves the atmosphere through the pipes and into the rooms. The second one is the malfunctioning one. Goodman units have a classic problem beside this. Cheap electronic parts.
Shut off everything so it melts the rime off. Just be sure and tell the tech how much rime was on it. If you continue to run it, you may devastate something else. Good luck!
IN the future, run the fan on "ON' adjectives the time, as it will save the rheostat that trips the unit on. Turning the part off and on all the time is what wear it out. That will leave the room more comfortable, allowing you to raise the thermostat a few degree, and it will cause the compressor to come on less repeatedly. Your electric bill will also be cheaper, and the universe will thank you for less greenhouse gasses.
Could be low on refrigerant. Just because it is new doesn't expect it is not leaking somewhere. Look around the ground or on the casing for grease. If you see remnants of oil than you have a discharge somewhere. When you have a leak, consequently you will get ice. The just thing cooling is the pipes. sounds like your blower motor have gone out.
Answers: With the coil being iced over near is most likely a leak surrounded by the system. You can look at all the connections for any signs of refrigerant oil. You will have need of to call a service company. If you remove the inside cover where the inside lines run into the evaporator coil, you may thaw this out with a box admirer blowing on it. Leave the unit turned off until thaw. You may then turn it on and see how long it runs before re icing. Be sure to replace adjectives covers before turning back on.
The inside hanger-on could also cause the freeze up. If it isn't blowing, the coil will also freeze.
