the pilot light on my furnace is orangey/yellow within color and appears weak .. periodically it go out for no reason or esspecially on really blowing days .. i've been told it should be a blue firm flame .. please give a hand ..thnx
Answers: I agree with the first answer - spawn sure the line is clear & verbs.
Then, where the pilot tube connects to the gas control spout...right next to it...nearby may be a cover plate (looks like a substantial screw) .. under that screw cover is the fine adjust hypodermic for the pilot.
Be real well thought-out, check for leaks beside soapy water contained by a spray bottle. If in doubt at adjectives have a pro do it. Gas doesn't forgive mistakes and it make a big bang.
If you do it yourself. After you are done, most gas companies extend a free look-over and leak check.
I would particularly have them come out and inspect it after.
It's probably dirty and wishes cleaning from the junk floating around. Residues of oil, perfumes, dust and so on find it's path there and can end in problems at times. Should be able to unscrew it from the row and use a fine needle or line to unblock the hole. Sounds approaching it's not reaching the thermal couple very in good health from this. After this is done you should have a bright blue flame again.
