I have a GE washer that is not agitating or spinning. It fill with water and drains clearly. I have read that it might be the lid switch, but where do I find that. I took bad the front panel, but don't know how to take off the top panel. What should I be looking for? Thanks.
Answers:    Maybe basically the belt. Try going to http://www.repairclinic.com/0088_11_1.as...

There should be a lever sticking out from the lid that presses down on the lid switch which is mounted below the top of the washer. Usually to get to it you press a putty gouge between the top and the front of the washer to press the spring clip which holds the top down. If you use a flashlight you may be able to see the clips which are about four inches from the sides. 2 possible cause,1 the lid switch which is located ususally at one of the hinges you can use a screwdriver and push it in while you try to run the washer, 2 is the timer going through the cycles? but for there is a good opening the timer is bad.
