I have a FRIDIGAIRE FGF316BSB which be working but not the oven won't light. It's a glowbar igniter. The brightness bar seem to be working and if I apply a flame I barely return with the oven lit but just not quite and in a few minutes it peters out. The cooktop burners work fine. It this a regulator problem? It did like peas in a pod thing a few months ago and a moved it away from the wall and it worked ok but in a minute that isn't helping. Burners on cooktop have other worked great. Ideas?
Agree near both answers here. Try one thing. If you can access the spout at the back of the oven, delicately tap it near the back of a wrench or a set of two of pliers. If it comes on the valve could be sticking. If not, clearly replace the igniter
I agree.
It is not the regulator. If it was, your burners wouldn't work right.
And we know if it is trying to street light and opens your basic burner at all next all your controls are fine. It can be a bleak module (if it has one) or gas spigot but at least nine times out of ten that ignitor's resistance is too high-ranking, likely cracked, as mentioned.
And it is the lowest expensive part of the three to replace.
Answers: Hi Scott, chances are the light bar or hot surface ignitor, is the problem. I'll bet that the broil comes on OK. The ignitor draws a current (normally around 3.5 amps) which cause the gas valve to start. When the ignitor fails or starts to fall short, the ignitor will glow, but does not draw sufficient current to open out the main gas spigot. If you have access to a clamp on amp meter, you could check the amp draw yourself. Otherwise, be pretty confident that the hot surface ignitor is the problem. I hope this help.
