Garage door opening not passage? I have a (5 yr old) genie 1/2 horsepower garage door introduction...

I have a (5 yr old) genie 1/2 horsepower garage door introduction on a large insulated (so larger and heavier than normal) garage door.
as of two days ago, the opening will only amenable the door 3-4 inches. it will close the door just fine (when reset).

ive run the introduction with the door disengaged, so its not a problem beside the track/chain itself.

i dont believe there to be an hindrance, since it closes properly (and runs both ways with the door disengaged).
the wheel on the door track seem to be working properly (some are rather tight), but all appear to roll.

it is tough to open manually, but closes extraordinarily easily due to its counterbalance - thats why i dont think here is a problem with the door tracks.

any thoughts on what my problem could be? is my starter not strong enough to initiate my heavy door? or could i own another problem.
Answers:    It sounds like your counter-balance springs may own become disengaged. If the door is really heavy to manually pull, call a garage door company and hold them fix your springs. This is not a DIY job because of the menace involved in tallying the correct tension to them.

One of the springs may be broken. This will inflict the door to be "heavier" because it does not have the tautness of both of the springs to assist in lifting the door. You enunciate it is tough to open manually. This is cause by what I just mentioned. Good Luck.
