Garage door repair....help out.? one of the wire cable has unwrapped itself from a roller/ bobin...
one of the wire cable has unwrapped itself from a roller/ bobin on one side of the door, how do i take it to stay on again. everytime i wind it on, it falls stale when i open the door.
sounds approaching a broken spring. You need to replace the sprinfs, and I would recommend calling a professional, they are massively dangerous.
I have same problem on my Westland garador door. What had happen was one of the basic springs had broken within the header assembly.
You can buy spares but rebuilding the header was going to be a difficult (and uncertain to your fingers job) so I bought a comnplete new header (about lb90 on eBay) and solved the problem.
Best of luck!
Answers: You possibly need to retension the spring element, depending on the make of your door.
If the spring requires tensioning or slackening - fit the crook pin on the right paw side by locating through the hole in the spring shaft and locating around the sun shelter arm in the lead bracket. Hold the spring plug tight with a toggle banister in one of the four holes to keep going the tension.
Loosen the two Allen screw in the spring plug.
Using a second toggle handrail, turn the spring plug one or two turns up to tension or down to slacken the spring.
Tighten the two Allen screw and carefully allow the spring to transport up the tension until that time removing the original toggle public house. Ensure that the cables run down trailing the cones and are in the outer grooves as shown.
Remove the crook pin.
Operate the door to be paid sure it is correctly balanced.
You will probably have need of help to do this, or appointment in the professionals.
