Auto Garage Door Opener open today but doesn't close. I can hear to motor is running but nil happen. The door is stuck surrounded by the up position. I pull the release cord to close the door but the manacle still not moving. I pull the plug on the garage door introduction and plug it back surrounded by. The chain start moving backbone and forth(just for few inches) and won't stop. The door manual depart and close no problems. When it's in the down position; it stay down. When it's contained by the up position it stay up. I don't think the problems is from the lurch or door itself. The spring looks fine. I guess it might be the gear but I don't know anything about the garage door. Is it a self-fix problem or I hold to hire someone? Is there any opinion for garage door opener company surrounded by Edmonton area? Here is the knit for what actually start.

Answers:    It looks like the manacle isn't connected to the shuttle that slides on the track, connected to the arm, connected to the door. The chain is moving ably, but must be locked into the shuttle to raise the door.
If you hear the motor running but the cuff isn't moving then the pin that go through the chain sprocket is broken. Take a stepladder and look at the sprocket on the opener and see if the shaft of the motor is spinning inside the sprocket. There should be any an allen set screw or a solid pin that goes through the sprocket. If that isn't the overnight case some models also have rubber belts or plastic gears inside the part that could be worn. If you decide to unscrew, unplug it first. Good Luck.
