does anyone know who is responsible for replacing galvanized pipe explicitly coming into my house but is before the marine shut off & wet meter? is it mine or the water companies?
In Rochester NY, you are responsible from the road or sidewalk ( curb shut stale ) to everything else.
If it is, resembling you said, before the meter, it should be the dampen company's responsibility (as long as they have no grounds for negligence on your piece to maintain it).
When you phone call, be assertive, but not rude. They don't want to pay for it, so if you supply them any reason to doubt your confidence, they'll probably transport advantage.

Answers: Any piping between the major roadway shutoff and your house is most likely yours, but I conjecture you should phone up the municipal Public Works department and ask them. It could be that if your meter is rented from the municipality, a pipe between their roadway shutoff valve and the meter belongs to them.
