Fuse blows everytime I close the microwave door.? Here's my question. Every time I close my built-in microwave the fuse...
Here's my question. Every time I close my built-in microwave the fuse blows in the electrical panel box. I can use the microwave, I can approachable the microwave door, but I can't close the microwave without it blowing the fuse. Does anyone have any thinking on how to fix this problem. One last thing, I believe my father started this problem when he tried to fix the microwave a months backbone. I wasn't living in the house at the time, but I think that's when the microwave started to achievement up. My father opened the microwave up and tinkered with it to gain it working again. He replaced a fuse.
Sounds like a short within the door "interlock" (the safety switch which prevents you from turning the oven on with the door open) . If I _had_ to fix it I'd dance hunting around the switch with a volt and continuity meter... But then logically, I would be exposing myself to high voltages and risk for very little. Even though I hold a history of such madness, a well equipped shop, and an engineering scope, I know it would not be worth my time to fix. Microwave ovens are too cheap to work on unless it is a really high end or built-in part.
Oh, and Sharp microwave division customer service is awesome. They replaced a microwave WAY out of warranty for me once for free because it had a factory defect which I did not even know roughly speaking! So they will have my business forever! I believe in advocate organizations which go beyond what is expected, hence this plug. I don't work for Sharp, nor do I know anyone who does.
Good luck!
Don't get the picture here. How can you use the microwave if the fuse blows every time you close the door? Doesn't the door have to be closed for the item to operate? If, literally, you close the door, re-set the breaker, and the unit works, there is a motionless short in the wiring connected beside the door light. On noooooooo.dont close the door:) Have a pro check it.it's worth it before something trunk happens.mine just go out.and it's a double stacked unit...and I refuse to update you what it cost me to fix it...but the part was 5.00 and the labor...total 285.oo but I considered necessary to save it for awhile yet.so do it until that time it takes something major close to the switch or resistor out. Good luck.
Answers: The door has a safety switch that possibly shorting out when the door is closed. Call a service tech to fix it.
name the company the microwave is from You still have a fused electrical system?...Let's be safe here and phone up in a pro...
Try moving it to another circuit in the house to see if it does the same point there.
You'll know whether it is the microwave or a weak fuse.
Microwaves are so cheap it is not worth repairing.
