I recently moved to Colorado and put my matured fridge/freezer in the garage - it's probably 5 years older.

It always work fine when it be in the house but the freezer not quite hits 30 degrees if the garage heat falls below 30 degrees.

When its not so cold outside I can hear the fridge turn on and I see the freezer warmth gets closer to 0-10 degree... but as the garage temperature get lower the freezer doesn't seem to work as capably.

Just a coincidence or does anyone have a suggestion?
Answers:    Household refrigerator/freezers are designed to work within 60 to 90F outside temperatures. They are not valved to work contained by the cold. If you look at new freezers, you will find some are garage rate which means they will work contained by the cold. One problem is the non-garage rated unit can use significantly more electricity when operating below 45F.
they are not supposed to work in those temps. usaually you maintain appliances indoors, compressor is pumping down on pressure and shutting down before it reach temp... i know this i have a freezer on my front porch that does duplicate thing...
