Fridge Freezing Food GE Side by Side.? Hi. Have a 5 year old GE side by side fridge/freezer...

Hi. Have a 5 year old GE side by side fridge/freezer beside ice inventor and outside water dispenser. Problem is fridge nouns is freezing the food. Also, the water stripe to dispenser and ice originator has shut down also. Suspecting this rank is frozen as it runs through the replaceable filter which is located within the artificial fridge area. Thermostat control set on dignified.
Also noticed that the outside frame of the fridge between the fridge and freezer areas is totally HOT to the touch, as if some companent is working too hard and heat up. From what I read this is a common problem, but does not appear to be my thermostat. Any lend a hand?
Thanks to all.
Answers:    When you thermostat set on "high" I hope you indicate to the warmest setting. I would call that the "lowest" setting but that may be a short time ago a difference in how you are using the occupancy. Obviously if you set it at the "coldest", you would freeze things and it would get hot working so intricate. So I assume you mean warmest.

Sounds approaching a bad thermostat to me if other things are okay. You hold two Tstats and I think on the GE SXS the freezer control runs the compressor.

The condensor coils run through the divide between the freezer and refrigerator. Running constantly it still shouldn't grasp REAL hot. That is the first thing I check on a standard service to assess how dirty the coils are.

So I KNOW your coils are VERY dirty or the condensor fan (the one underneath contained by back) is out. Also GE exhausts the heat out the rear legs so the vents surrounded by the cover in subsidise need to be verbs also.

So you have two issues. The freezing and the steam are related but separate issues.

A dead evaporator enthusiast (in the freezer) or defrost problems can cause freezing surrounded by the bottom, in the refrig. where on earth the water cistern is.

So I suggest you first check the freezer to see if the fan is running or near is ice on the support panel. You may have to push the door lighting switch off to formulate the fan run. Either can result in freezing in the bottom but you would sense the top of FF section is too heat up.

Then clean your coils and the hindmost. Empty it, and pull it out, verbs it, then tolerate it warm up to unfreeze the sea lines and tank. It take some time to thaw.

Then try it again. If it freezes again next determine that problem separately.

Note, if you have frozen that reservoir, they often crack later leak. So be prepared to check for dampen in the bottom of the fresh food passage when you try to use the water again.

One adjectives scenario: The temp in the house go up with summer arriving. The dirty coils end in it not to cool well within a warmer house so somebody cranks the temp to Max (why do they alway close to to turn it to maximum?) and then freezes everything. Then somebody turns it down but it is still too cold to allow it to thaw out.

Good Luck
Too cold i would continue to turn down your thermostat contained by the freezer. you could also get a thermometer and place it contained by the fridge. anything below 32 degrees F or 0 Celsius. If you are falling far below that next your temps are set to low. Temps set to high surrounded by the freezer can effect the fridge side. Unless you have separate coils for both.
