Answers: Providing everything is in right physical condition (not rotted, falling apart, cracked or broken), you may be able to fix this next to a little plumber's putty. Unscrew the pipes that front off the bottom of the drain ( you enjoy to do this regardless). Now, unscrew the black ring. You will probably have to hold the drain within the sink still while you do this,,,it will want to turn with the ring. Once the black ring is bad, pull the drain straight up and out of the sink. Take a look at the physical condition of the drain assembly. If it isnt cracked or broken, verbs the bottom side off as all right as the sink hole itself. It will probably have a hardened grey or white things on it. That is the old plumber's putty. Go to the hardware store ( or Home Depot or Loews). If you enjoy any broken parts, replace them and get a small plastic jar of plumber's putty. Take a small amount of it and rub it between your hand till it long and stringy...maybe 1/16" gooey. Place this around the base of the drain and reinstall it surrounded by the sink. Push the drain down so the putty flattens and squeezes out. Now replace your black ring and the pipes below. You just made a professional repair and save yourself about $75. (I'll bear my ten points now,,,,thanks)
Remove it and replace it.
