what are some easy and cheap ways to fix cracks in a concrete driveway?
Also what types of driveways are the least possible effected by shifting soil and freeze cycles, and could I put any of those over concrete or would i have to remove adjectives the old concrete?
You can deal next to the shifting soil and freezing cycle with concrete. Allot of re-bar. You cant put this over old concrete any. If concrete is what you want talk to a local contractor and tell him what you want. They cant stop it from completely cracking but they can control it. capture concrete, and a tool to scrape, and put the liquid concrete surrounded by a bucket, then from top to bottom put a new sheet of concrete over the cracks, and tolerate it dry for a few hours!

My father is an asphalt technician, and asphalt is honestly the BEST track to go, if you don't go cheap close to the road builders do.

If you asphalted vs. concrete, you would have to demolish the concrete and put in asphalt.

As for fixing the cracks surrounded by your driveway...the only thing I can regard of is to make a batch of concrete and flood in the cracks with it, and smooth it out to where on earth it's all uniform.
Answers:    Using a crack chaser is what we in the know use and a product call ardex. Now if the cracks are in the control joints simply use a self level concrete caulk, carefull with this stuff as it's extremely runny and seeks it's own height.

These products can be bought at any good concrete supplier warehouse (whitecap Industries now call HD/Whitecap).It's actually a simple process and only mix small portions.
