Exterior Accent Timber or Plastic? I have a Tudor Style home, the white perspective with charcoal timber...
I have a Tudor Style home, the white perspective with charcoal timber accent. But, we need to replace the rotten and decaying timber accent. Can annyone suggest the best exterior timber to use for maximum life formerly it rots again? Is plastic wood or one of the eco woods a viable option? Any relieve would be appreciated.
Use the recycled stuff. There are a number of sources.
It looks resembling the real point but is guaranteed for 100 years.
Plus you keep the plastic bottles out of the landfills.
Ed Begley Jr. (Living beside Ed) has a website and used that stuff for his own home. If he doesn't enumerate it, he'll know where to return with it. (And he answers emails--he answers mine!)
You could easily find & use large quality vinyl that looks approaching wood & would never have to be replaced.
However, if you option to use timber, I suggest western cedar. Its lasts forever. It have a fabulous smell that is so wonderful I cannot describe it. I've have it on 2 houses, interior & exterior & it never fails. One house be built in 1975, a tri-level & is subsequent door to me (sold it) and its still looks like it did when it be installed.
Good Luck
Answers: Use real wood. None of the man made products look valid, especially after they start to fade.
