Is it true that I'll lose power the longer my extension cord is? How long would it have to be until that time this became and issue to operate a circular saw?
Answers: Yes it is true. You will enjoy a voltage drop, the longer the cord. The lower the voltage, the higher the amperage draw on the saw. When the amps stir too high, the saw will warmth up and fry.
You can overcome some of the voltage drop by increasing the size of the wire surrounded by the extension cord. A #12 cord at 100 feet will get going to show a voltage drop, by increasing the cord to a #10, the voltage drop is less.
Extension cords are for short runs generally. I don't know the amperage draw of your saw, or the length you want to run, so it is pretty hard to multiply the size cord you need.
it will hold to be a very unbelievably long cord to make any difference that you will identify . all cable have residual loss of some type .but i will say that if you are going to enjoy a very long front and will use it for long periods of time ,you should other uncoil it because it can over heat slightly quickly .
