Ok so I have this treadmill at home and it's pretty prehistoric now but it used to present me these electric shocks if I touched the handle bar, well more sort of static, resembling the ones you get if you run down a slide to fast and touch someone... anyway so I put this giant rubber mat underneath the treadmill to stop it shocking me. Because it's rubber and all I thought it would stop the electricity shocking me but it hasn't! Why is That and if i influence whore rubber gloves instead would that work?
Answers: The static electric shock you feel is due to a voltage difference between your body and the equipment. You may be picking up a voltage by running on the insulated belt, which is discharged to the metal handlebars when you touch them. The rubber mat is merely isolating the treadmill from the floor, so it's not going to help. You stipulation to provide conductive paths between your body and the handlebars to equalize the voltages. People who service sensitive electronics commonly wear a static wristband connected to a ground wire - conceivably you could connect yourself to the metal handlebars with one of them.
spray a mist of dampen around on carpet, not on treadmill !
