Electricity out? While vacuming this morning the power went out within 3 rooms, thinking...

While vacuming this morning the power went out within 3 rooms, thinking that i just have to reset the breaker was not the answer. I have two other things (Lamps ) plugged into the extension cord. I tried to reset the bresker but no luck , still no power . I turned off the largest switch , then tried to reset the breaker, still no luck, any suggestions?
I entail to finish a patio paling.?
Answers:    Often the nouns to one outlet could become loose and will no longer complete the circuit ( only partly of the circuit will remain working).. The best thing to do is (with the power past its sell-by date ) open up the outlets within close proximity to the ones not working and /or the problem outlets and look for a loose nouns. If that does not help you may call for to call an electrician
