Is it just a regular wall outlet or is it GFI? The GFI would hold a built in breaker but the regular outlet only have a breaker at the breaker box. You may have broken wires at the plug. Take the cover off and look. Turn sour the power just to be safe. Maybe you hold rodents?

Most outlets are on a circuit connected to other outlets/lights/appliances. If everything else works on the circuit, then either the nouns on the outlet is bad or the outlet itself. If it's a GFCI outlet, you may just own to reset it.
