i'm trying to put a light surrounded by my well house using the existing 240v for the powerfully pump. what would be the best way to do it?
If you are surrounded by the US- there are lamp that are 240v. You should get one of those. If you hold a neutral chain with the 240 source, newly use one of the hot wires and the neutral. If you use one leg of the 240 supply, and drive a ground rod to connect the indistinct wire to- it will work, but you're inviting an electrocution.
As long as the scource is well grounded, you can give somebody a lift one leg from the 240v and one leg to ground to get your 120v.
I doubt it would go by an inspection, just don't depart from any wires , or connections exposed , make it nice and smart, and it should be safe for simple lighting circuit.
Answers: Is within a constant source of 240 VAC? Or do you just enjoy 240 VAC when the well pump runs? You can catch a 240 volt light, shop around. Don't "Jerry Rig" near a 120VAC light and driving ground rods and adjectives that. Do it safely or hail as an Electrician. Be cafeful who you listen to on this forum!
