Here's to make a long story short: my house smells approaching burning wires and I don't know what to do:

So, thirty minutes ago, I walked down stairs to chitchat to my mom (I'm a teen) and I smelt an odd smell, resembling wires burning. I walked over to the stove and turned past its sell-by date the pot of soup my mom was making after walked outside. I come back surrounded by not more than two minutes later and the undamaged house now smells close to electrical wires burning. So, my mom, my step-dad, and I searched the house and can't find the lead to of the odor. Is this dangerous and do I have need of to call a fire department?

I usually put more thought into my question but I'm in a hurry. I stipulation to know what all I should/shouldn't turn on, what I necessitate to do...etc.

All the windows are get underway and the doors are closed.
