I need to disconnect some 220 volt wires surrounded by my main circuit breaker how do I turn about it
Best is to turn off the prime breaker, if you can't do that, you must turn off the individual breaker controlling the two wires you want to disconnect. Use a screwdriver to remove them.
Make sure the power is turned off.
If it is the nurture from the power pole get the power company to unhook the service.
As a ultimate resort- very alertly loosen one wire and cartridge it up.
Wear rubber gloves and boots.
Then do the same to the other lead.
Answers: If they are branch circuit wires to something close to the stove or dryer, just turn bad the breaker. If you're nervous around it, turn off the prime breaker.
Remove any rings from your hands. Make sure there's someone else around contained by case you acquire hurt or to hold a flashlight.
Disconnect each rope from the breaker, pull it out, and cassette it. Watch where you poke your fingers when pulling the wires.
If the wires are connected directly to the bus bar, like sub-feeds to another panel, later turn off the leading breaker. Check the connections with a volt meter to be sure they're deceased before poking around near a screwdriver.
If connected above the main breaker, similar to parallel feeds to a second prime panel, the power from the meter will have to be switched past its sell-by date. Some areas require a main disconnect at the meter itself. If you enjoy this, just turn it past its sell-by date an away you go. If not, you'll own to call the power company to verbs the meter (there'll be a fee).
